The town emblem was adopted in 1953 but there is no flag law. The green flag has a red and a yellow two color town emblem in the center. The town emblem is a stylized kanji 東 Higashi of Higashikushira. The outside part stands for the sun and the inside part for rice as an economic base of the town. As a whole, it represents a development outward like a rising morning sun and a peace, an output and a solidarity of the town people inward.
