The town emblem and the flag were adopted on Jan 20th 1970 by Notice No 3 and No 4. The blue flag has a white town emblem in the center. The town emblem is a stylized kanji 竹 Take of Taketomi. The circle symbolizes the town people’s concord and unlimited surge of the town. It represents strongly-rooted prosperity like a bamboo. The flag proportion is 2: 3. The diameter of the emblem is 3/5 height of the flag.
