The flag of Fatah al-Islam, the small Sunni splinter group at the center of the recent violence in Lebanon, was briefly shown on a TV news report today – a spokesman was being interviewed with the flag on the wall behind him. It was black with a white Shahada in a calligraphic style I had not seen before – very rounded and curvy, resembling Western cursives. See photo.
The white/black color scheme is apparently typical of Al-Quaida-affiliated groups.
