The flag and coat of arms of Kairiai were drawn according to
pictures, which was taken from booklet: DISTRICT OF SIAULIAI
AND ITS CONTEMPORARY HERALDRY [LaL02].
Here is information from this book:
"Kairiai - The village of Kairiai with 56 households is
mentioned in historical sources dating from the 17th century. The
Kairiai estate belonged to the family of count Zubovas from 1820
to 1917, later to A. Strauchman.
The local population were active in the national movement during
the 19th century.
Presently Kairiai has the population of 3,600. It is located on
the eastern shore of the lake Kairiai 7 km from Siauliai.
The coat of arms was created for the locality based on the design
by Laima Ramoniene. It is charged with a golden ribbon and 2
silver blossoms of orchid on a field of red.
The orchids symbolise helplessness and fertility, beauty,
education and friendship. The colour of red is connected with
royalty, power and nobility.
The Kairiai coat of arms was confirmed by the President of the
Republic of Lithuania on June 29, 1999."
