The municipality of Aračinovo (in Albanian, Harachinë11,992 inhabitants in 2002, 91% of them being ethnic Albanians; 31.3 sq. km) is made of the town of the same name, located some 10 km east of Skopje, and of the three settlements of Grušino (Gruchinë), Mojanci (Mojance) and Orlanci (Orlance).

A photography on the municipal website shows the Mayor of the city with a flag behind him. In fact that flag is a rejected proposal; it has above the shield a scroll with the name of the municipality in Albanian only. According to the Law, the name should have been written in Macedonian, and, if wished, in the second official language of the municipality, Albanian.

The municipality eventually chose a flag of a similar design without scroll and with a shield with sharp edges, as shown on the Macedonian Ministry of Local Self-Government website (page no longer online).

Former flag of Aračinovo - Image by Mello Luchtenberg & António Martins, 2 September 2006
The former flag of Aračinovo is shown on the Macedonian Ministry of Local Self-Government website (earlier version, page no longer online. The explanation of the flag might be rather far fetched, but possibly the shape in the flag suggest the ending slopes of the mountain Skopska Crna Gora that ends just north of Aračinovo.
