The municipality of Kruševo (9,684 inhabitants; 190.68 sq.km) is made of the town of Kruševo and the 19 villages of Alganci, Arilevo, Velušino, Bipino, Borino, Bučin, Vrboec, Gorno Divjaci, Dolno Divjaci, Jakrenovo, Miloševo, Norovo, Ostrilci, Presil, Pusta Reka, Saždevo, Sveto Mitraci and Selce.
The small, picturesque town of Kruševo is the highest town in the Balkan
(1,350 m asl); it has kept several old houses with characteristic
Macedonian architecture. Krusevo was the seat of the short-lived
Republic of Kruševo, which emerged after the Ilinden Uprising in 1903.
Every year on Ilinden's Day (2 August), hand woven blankets
(jambolii) of diverse colours show up on the windows and balconies of
the town. The uprising is recalled by the Makedonium monument.
A memorial gallery recalls the local expressionist painter Nikola
Martinovski (1903-1973), a master of modern Macedonian painting.
