Roden [former municipality]

Roden is since 1 Jan 1998 part of the municipality of Noordenveld in Drenthe, the Netherlands.

Flag adopted 5 april 1963. This flag is derived from the municipal Coat of Arms. The tree stands for the meaning of 'Roden' - 'rooien' = clearing the wood. The Coat of Arms was designed by the Frisian painter Ids Wiersma and the Frisian poet dr. G. A. Wumkes. (v. Sierksma, Gemeentewapens)
