Burum / Boerum - "Flag: Chequy, red and yellow of nine rectangles on three
horizontal stripes; the central rectangle is black.
Colors: clear-red, princes-yellow and black.
The black color refers to the times when the abbot of Gerkesklooster
held jurisdiction over Burum; his symbol was a black cross.
Nickname: poepen (because they forgot their Frisian language and spoke Poeps - Grunnings
or Groningers) and bollen (bulls, also grumpy people).
