Population (1 Jan 2003): 19.605; area: 72,79 km²; settlements: Varsseveld (seat), Bontebrug, Heelweg-Oost, Heelweg-West, Silvolde, Sinderen (ged), Terborg, Westendorp.
Wisch is in southeast Gelderland on the highway from Amsterdam to Salzburg. Municipal seat in Varsseveld. The name is from the banner lords of Wisch, who lived in Terborg, the main town.
The flag was adopted 1 Feb 1962, derived from the municipal Coat of Arms. This in turn was taken from the banner lords of Wisch.
