Winsum is a municipality in Groningen province, formed 1 Jan 1990 by the merger of the former municipalities of Adorp, Baflo, Ezinge, and Winsum. It is just north of Groningen city, along the "Reitdiep" canal, and along the railway Groningen-Roodeschool. The village of Ezinge contains the largest "wierde" (mound) of Groningen province, with its own museum.
Flag: three wavy stripes, proportioned 3:1:1, green - white - green, with on the top stripe four yellow seven-pointed stars in a row.

The green color is for the agriculture and cattlebreeding practised here, the wavy white stripe is the Reitdiep, and the four stars the former municipalities.

Winsum's old flag: five diagonal stripes from hoist-bottom to fly-top, proportioned 1:1:2:1:1, white - blue - white - blue - white; on white a semée of red hearts; the first blue stripe charged with a yellow heraldic fleur-de-lis, the second blue bar with a yellow six-pointed star, both placed into the direction of the stripe.
Adoption date unknown.

Adorp former municipal flag: three horizontal wavy stripes red - white - green proportioned 12:7:12, over which at the separation of hoist and fly a black lion rampant of 3/4 flagheight.
Adopted 28 May 1985 by municipal resolution.
