Beesel municipality
Number of inhabitants: 13.474; area: 2831 ha. Settlements: Beesel, Reuver
(seat), and Offenbeek.
The Coat of Arms and flag have been inspired by the folkloristic feast of St.
George and the Dragon, which occurs every seven years in Beesel. St. George
is the patron saint of the "schutterij" (shooting guild) of Beesel. The
colors of the flag have been derived from the colors of the Beeselse schutterij.
The scooped wheel on the flag symbolizes the former water-mill in Reuver.
