Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 24.918; area: 65,69 km². Settlements: Rijen (seat), Gilze, Hulten, Molenschot.
This flag was approved by the municipal council on 30 July 1962. The colors are derived from the municipal Coat of Arms, which contains St. Peter. The key on the flag refers to him. The diagonal line symbolizes the airbase of Gilze-Rijen, where regularly planes fly into the sky. The two fields symbolize the duality of the municipality.
