Limmen former municipality
Castricum, Akersloot
and Limmen have merged on 1 Jan 2002. New name is Castricum.
Flag adopted 10 May 1973; design: Stichting Banistiek en Heraldiek
Description: over the center quartered of black and white, with in
flagcenter a lion rampant countercharged of 4/5 flagheight, with in its
frontpawa stemmed red tulip.
The colors are derived from the municipal arms. The lion is a pars-pro-toto
vor four such lions in the arms.
Flowerbulbs (and the flowerbulb-museum) in Limmen is considered very
specific for this (ex)municipality). The tulip in the lion's paw symbolizes
that.
