Flag: red with a white Scandinavian cross with width of 1/3 flagheight, with in the canton a white medlar-flower.
Adopted 15 May 1962
In 1263 Goor became a town, and it dearly wanted a Coat of Arms. The ruling bishop denied them that, and the citizens did not insist for fear of the bishop's anger. At last the citizens took heart, and the bishop took fright, whereupon he threw a handful of medlar in a heap of cow-dung, crying: "Here is your Coat of Arms!" The citizens designed their arms, and when a silver cross was added it met with approval.
