The lion and salmon are the exact image of the municipal arms. There is no motivation for the wavy bar, but it probably represents the Lek river, flowing along Ammerstol.
The salmon reminds of salmon-fishing in olden days here. The back-to-back
placement is contrary to the rule of courtoisie.
Nickname: "Piepmuizen" - squeakmice, who were continuously pestered
by the "katten" of Bergambacht.
