Leimuiden 1971 flag

Another present from FDFS captain Hans van Heijningen: the former flag of Leimuiden, Zuid-Holland province:
Flagdescription: Blue with 9 yellow lozenges, placed in the sense of the flag, ordered in 2 rows, respectively of 5 and 4; the center of the first row at 1/3 of flaglength, the second row connected; a lozenge of 1/7 flagheight and 3,5 flaglength; and all lozenges of the first row of 6/7 flagheight.
Adopted 19 Nov 1971 by municipal resolution, after advice by the Stichting Banistiek en Heraldiek.
This is the image of the Leimuiden arms, turned 90 degrees.

The coat of arms is probably based on the arms of the van der Does-family. The Koffie Hag album has 9 red lozenges on white, The flag on this page is probably based on that (probably erroneous) image.

Leimuiden c. 1938 flag

[Leimuiden flag] Shipmate Flagchart : http://www.flagchart.net
adopted c. 1938

Description: Two equally wide horizontal stripes of white and blue, with in the center the municipal arms in white with nine red lozenges.
This flag was instituted in 1938 (or 1937?) by municipal resolution. It is not clear why the Coat of Arms on the flag has other colors than the municipal arms. Did the municipality want to use the Dutch national colors?
