The company was founded in 1862 in Stavanger by Thomas S. Falck (1829-1889), the Norwegian consul in Newcastle (United Kingdom). In 1936, it was renamed Jacob Falck ANS, Jacob Falck being the Swedish consul in Stavanger. The company was eventually renamed Falck Shipping A/S in 1984. The flag is a red swallow-tailed pennant with a white star in the middle.
Ivan Sache, 2 December 2003

The company house flag appears in Lloyd's Book of House Flags and Funnels (No. 781, p. 74) with slanted top and bottom edges, as shown graphically on the corporate website.
A plate of the "Atlantic" three-master, which sailed under the Falck flag in 1901-1911, shows the flag with horizontal top and bottom edges.
Josef Nuesse's "Ships and Flags" website shows the photo of an actual flag also with horizontal top and bottom edges.

Much of the Fred. Olsen company is still based in Norway, as well as in Liechtenstein, the Channel Islands, etc. The company is involved in shipping, manufacturing of watches (Timex), etc. Fred. Olsen also owns much land in Gomera, one of the Canary Islands, which explains the Líneas Fred. Olsen with a houseflag similar to that of the Norwegian company but with the colours of Spain.
Jan Oskar Engene, 5 February 1999

From the postcard collection sent to Martin Karner, the postcard #10, 3rd row, 2nd flag of [o9oXXb] reads «Fred Olsen Line» and shows this flag.
