Oslo - white flag, hoisted blue "D"

Dyvi was founded in 1955 by Jan-Erik Dyvi. It was the
first to construct a purpose-built pure car carrier (PCC) in the 1960s. The company
pioneered the Norwegian offshore oil drilling industry in the 1970s, becoming the
largest operator before selling this business to Smedvig ASA in 1988. In addition,
it took the lead in introducing semi-submersible heavy lift vessels. More than 30
ships and offshore units have been built over the years, almost all of them prototypes
and/or special-purpose vessels. The compagny have changed name from Jan-Erik Dyvi
AS to Dyvi AS in 2004. web site: www.dyvi.no.

It's hard to find the hometown, but a Google search
makes it quite possible that it was Askerøyen in Norway.

Alesund - blue flag, red diamond outlined white; white
5-pointed star.
Jarig Bakker, 4 February 2006
The company J. Hagenæs Shipping AS is still in business
and the flag can be seen flying on the office building in Ålesund where the company
is based. From personal observations I would say the diamond is larger than in the
drawing Jarig sent: It touches the edges of the cloth.

Back on 13.11.2006 I pointed out that Lloyds 1912
actually domiciled this firm as based Soon not Boon and was likely to
be Norwegian. I can now confirm that point having located it in a
Lloyds Maritime Atlas which shows Soon on the Oslo Fjord, up from Moss
and across from Tofte at 59 32 N 10 42 E.

Jørgen Jahre (1907-1998) was a nephew of the
shipowner Anders Jahre (1891-1982). Jahre was
President of the Football Association of Norway (1963-1965) and President of the
Norwegian Olympic Committee (1965-1969).
Josef Nuesse's "Ships and Flags" website shows the house flag of Jørgen Jahre
Shipping A/S, a Sandefjord-based company, as white with a cross made of a red
horizontal arm and a light blue vertical arm, in the middle a blue square
diamond charged with a white "J".
