According to
Pasco Region web site the regional flag was officially presented on February
12. A photo on another
site shows the flag to be diagonally yellow, green and red. According to
Ordenanza Regional No 237-2010-G.R.Pasco/CR the three stripes represent the
region's three provinces:yellow for Pasco,green for Oxapampa and red for Daniel
Carrión.
Paraskevas Renesis, 25 May 2010
The flag was designed by Luis Oscategui Vega.
The region's website gives additional elements:
- yellow: Pasco, mining [Pasco was awarded in 1960 the title of "Mining Capital
of Peru"];
- green: Oxapampa, "the region's lung and hope";
- red: Daniel Carrión, the blood shed by its inhabitants when fighting for the
land.
