Prusice - urban-rural commune, Trzebnica County, Dolnośląskie Voivodship
- former German name: Prausnitz.
The Arms and flag of the Prusice Commune were adopted in 2006 by the
Resolution of the City's Council:
"The Arms of Prusice are composed on the shield divided vertically
in halves and with the rounded bottom edge.
On the right side there is a Lower Silesian black eagle with the head
turned right, on gold.
The left side shows an open palm of the right hand ( in silver color
on black) which signifies the unique and rare standing of the town which,
in the XIV Century was
bestowed with the so-called "Law of the Sword", the right to
dispense the judgment and punishment reserved usually for the high nobles
- the princes (there were no other titles of nobility in Poland - the king
was just primus inter pares among the princes).
The official flag is a rectangle divided vertically into two fields;
starting from the hoist there is a black field comprising of 1/3 of the
total length of the flag, followed by the yellow field which is 2/3 of
it.
On the axis of the black and yellow fields the Arms are placed with
its dividing line corresponding to the axis of the two-color flag.
Ratio of the flag is 5:8.
The civic flag is the same, but without the Arms."
The Law (Statut) of the Commune clearly describes the background color
of the left half of the shield (where the hand is placed) as black.
But the Wikipedia, and some other websites (without any official status),
show it in blue.
They must be wrong, not the first time or last, by all means.
