Zielona Góra - rural commune, Zielona Góra County, Lubuskie Voivodship - German name: Grünberg in Schlesien.
Gmina Zielona Góra is a rural gmina (commune) in Zielona Góra County, Lubusz Voivodship, in western Poland. Its seat is the city of Zielona Góra, although the city is not part of the territory of the commune.
The villages forming the commune have a long history reaching about 600 years back.
They thrived on agriculture, sheep breeding, textile industry and wine making. The Zielona Góra Commune was instituted in 1972.
land under cultivation - 34%; forests - 55%.

Zielona Góra is one of two places in Poland with wine growing (mainly white wines; there is another wine growing region near the town of Warka in Masovia).
The first wineries around Zielona Góra were built in 1314. At Paradyż Abbey near Zielona Góra, monks have been making wine since 1250. The number of wineyards at peak production is estimated at 4,000 in the region, and 2,500 in Zielona Góra itself.
The most famous wine is called "Monte Verde" = "Zielona Góra".

New Arms and a brand new flag were adopted on April 25, 2008 (resolution # XIX/145/08).
Arms: on the gold shield a green bunch of grapes with leaves
The Arms and the flag were designed by Dr.Krzysztof Benyskiewicz (graphics) and Dr.Wojciech Strzyzewski (historic and heraldic justification).

Although already adopted, the symbols are still awaiting the formal approval of the Heraldic Commission and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration in Warsaw.

New flag and CoA adopted on August 26, 2009 by Commune Council.
According to the rules accepted in Vexillology - study of the flags, standards and banners - the colors  of the flag should correspond to the colors of the Arms. In the case of the Zielona Gora Commune these colors are yellow and green. The flag project contains both of these colors.and, in addition, the author of the project has captured, what rarely happens in vexilla, the pictorial essence of the name of the commune.- the rectangular field of the flag is charged in the middle with the green
triangle symbolizing the mountain (Góra).
In vexillology the dimensions of the flags are not given, only the ratio. In this particular case it is 5:8.
The flag of the Commune of Zielona Góra (German: Grünberg, English: Green Mountain) is a rectangular piece of cloth in the proportion (width to length) of 5:8.
In the middle part of the flag a green triangle is placed with equal sides.
Above and below it, two yellow triangles are placed. The ceremonial version of the flag includes, in the center of the green triangle, the Arms of the commune.
