Spytkowice rural district flag

Spytkowice - rural commune, Wadowice County, Małopolskie Voivodship.
Gmina Spytkowice is a rural gmina (commune) in Wadowice County, Lesser Poland Voivodship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Spytkowice.
Area: 47.03 sq.km (18.2 sq.mi); Population: 9,376 (2006); land under cultivation - 71%; forests - 10%.

First mentioned in documents of 1229 as the place of the meeting of the Piast princes called by Prince Henryk Brodaty (Jędrzych I Brodaty - Henry I the Bearded - Heinrich I der Bärtige). The settlement existed much earlier if the infrastructure was in place for such an important event.
In 1513, the owner of Spytkowice, Wawrzyniec Myszkowski, killed during an argument over the fishing pond, the last of the Dukes of Zator - Janusz V (John V of Zator).

New Arms and a brand new flag adopted on December 28, 2007 (resolution # XIV/119/07).
The description of the commune's symbols is not available right now, but are shown in the proof sheet attached to the resolution.
The old Arms (2001-2007) are retained by the village of Spytkowice, the seat (capital) of the commune.
