Nowa Sarzyna - urban-rural commune, Leżajsk County, Podkarpackie Voivodship
- former name: Ruda Łańcucka.
Gmina Nowa Sarzyna is an urban-rural gmina (urban-rural commune) in
Leżajsk County, Subcarpathian Voivodship, in south-eastern Poland. Its
seat is the town of Nowa Sarzyna, which lies approximately 11 kilometres
(7 mi) north-west of Leżajsk and 40 km (25 mi) north-east of the regional
capital Rzeszów.
The commune covers an area of 144.55 square kilometres (55.8 sq mi),
and as of 2006 its total population is 21,296 (out of which the population
of Nowa Sarzyna amounts to 6,308, and the population of the rural part
of the commune is 14,988).
In 1937 it became a part of the Central Industrial Region, a massive
and ambitious effort to rapidly industrialize the country. Unfortunately,
the German and Soviet invasion of September 1939 interrupted and destroyed
the program.
Arms and flag adopted on August 29, 2006 (resolution # XLV/461/2006).
There is no description of the new symbols available, but it is easy
to speculate it has something to do with the chemical industry - a major
industry of the town and commune.
Previous Arms (emblem, rather) were recalling the Central Industrial
Region of 1937 - COP -Centralny Okręg Przemysłowy.
