Tarnowiec - rural commune, Jasło County, Podkarpackie Voivodship.
Gmina Tarnowiec is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Jasło
County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-eastern Poland. Its seat is
the village of Tarnowiec, which lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi)
east of Jasło and 44 km (27 mi) south-west of the regional capital Rzeszów.
The gmina covers an area of 63.1 square kilometres (24.4 sq mi), and
as of 2006 its total population is 9,130.
Arms and flag adopted on January 29, 2007.
"Arms: on the red shield two crossed branches of blackthorn ("tarnina"
in Polish, hence the name of the commune) in natural colors and, between
the branches, COA of Polish nobility "Mądrostki" to which the early
owners of the area belonged.
Flag: a rectangle in the ratio 5:8 composed of three uneven horizontal
bands: blue (top), white (middle) and green (bottom).
The Arms of Tarnowiec are displayed on the middle, wide, white band."
