Sobków - rural commune, Jędrzejów County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodship.
Gmina Sobków is a rural gmina (commune) in Jędrzejów County, Świętokrzyskie
Voivodship, in south-central Poland. Its seat is the village of Sobków,
which lies approximately 14 kilometres (9 mi) north-east of Jędrzejów and
24 km (15 mi) south-west of the regional capital Kielce.
Area: 145.5 sq.km (56.2 sq.mi); Population: 8,266 (2006).
The commune contains part of the protected area called Chęciny-Kielce
Landscape Park.
Established in 1563.
Arms and flag adopted on December 14, 2002 (resolution # II/16/2002).
"Arms: red deer standing on hind legs to theright with golden horns,
hoofs and tongue on the white renaissance shield. Red header of the shield
contains four white eagles - symbol of the martyrdom of Saint Stanislaus
of Szczepanów, the patron saint of the local church."
