Jedwabno - rural commune, Szczytno County, Warmińsko-mazurskie Voivodship - former German name: Gedwangen.
Gmina Jedwabno is a rural commune in Szczytno County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland.
Its seat is the village of Jedwabno, which lies approximately 18 kilometres (11 mi) west of Szczytno and 32 km (20 mi) south-east of the regional capital Olsztyn.
Area: 311.51 sq.km (120.3 sq.mi); Population: 3,561 (2006).
Established either in 1380 or 1397 on the site of old Prusian settlement.
Since the 16th century a large village with the trading rights.
Parish since 1579.
Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (East Prussia).
Rich in tourist attractions - lakes, rivers. Land under cultivation - 20%; forests - 63%

The "statut" of the commune doesn't even mention the Arms or the flag. The archived resolutions of the Commune's Council don't go back far enough to obtain relevant texts.
I found the flag in the article of the local weekly "Kurek Mazurski" (April 23, 2009).
Arms of the Jedwabno Commune show the red castle with two black cormorants sitting on it.
The castle symbolizes the original inhabitants of the area - the Old Prusian tribe of Galindians.
The black cormorants are native to the area.
Representaton of the water in the Arms (white and blue waves) symbolizes the numerous lakes and rivers of the commune.

The flag, supposedly adopted in 1999, is composed of three vertical bands in the proportion of 1:4:1 where the extreme bands are red and the middle field is yellow.
In the center of the yellow field there is an element from the Arms of the commune - the black cormorant.
