The arms are Gules, issuant from a base wavy Argent charged with three barrulets wavy Azure a pillory Argent topped by an armillary sphere Or and between two salt pyramids Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (commune rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "FREGUESIA DE ALCOCHETE".

Commune is one of the three communes of Alcochete Municipality (q.v.); it had 9094 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 87.45 km².
