It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain light yellow (or beige) field.

Coat of arms

Shield Argent, a fountain Sable garnished Or spitting water of the same, in base a cow statant Sable spotted Argent. In chief a corn cob Gules leaved Vert in each corner. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "CINCO RIBEIRAS".
Meaning:
The corn cobs are symbolizing the importance of producing cereals and flour in the nearby mills. The fountain is a local building of historical heritage. The cow is symbolizing the importance of cattle breeding.

Cinco Ribeiras Commune is one of the 19 communes of the Angra do Heroísmo municipality (q.v.); it had 704 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 11.4 km².
