The arms are Azure a cross fleury voided Argent cornered by four fleurs-de-lis Or, in base a pair of wings Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA NOVA DA RAINHA - AZAMBUJA".
Meaning:
Its name means "new town of the queen"; it was the wedding place of the Saint Constable Nuno lvares Pereira, and his cross fleury voided shows on the arms, the background changed from red to blue; it was also where the first Portuguese airman training centre was located, in 1915-1920, and the pair of wings on the arms refers to this; no idea about the fleures -de-lis.
