It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a quartered white and green field (town rank).
António Martins-Tuválkin, 13 Nov 1998
Sable, a castle tower argent, open, masoned sable with port and windows sabler, four plants of corn fruited or (vert on arms) and leaved vert. Mural crown with four visible towers argent and white scroll reading "CASTRO DAIRE" in black capitals. In my humble opinion this is one of the nicest portuguese municipal coats of arms.
António Martins-Tuválkin, 13 Nov 1998
Flag and arms were approved on 30 April 1953.
