Coat of arms

[Altura commune CoA] image by Sérgio Horta,

The arms are Or a fishing net throughout Gules its buoys Vert issuant from a base wavy Vert chaged with two barrulets wavy Argent and in chief a raven perched Sable garnished Argent. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "ALTURA".
Meaning:
The word "altura" means "height", usually as an abstract noun, but here probably referring local terrain, and thus the arms are not canting, refering instead to the local importance of fishing. The base wavy with green waves is representing the sea. And why the raven? - I don't know.
António Martins-Tuválkin, 23 Aug 2009

Flag adopted and published in the official journal Diário da República: III Série in 2003.01.23, confirmed by DGAL on 2003.02.05, upon CHAAP approval of 2002.08.12
