About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on afield quartered of white and blue (left image). There is a variant (right image) quartered of blue and white with centred arms and without cogwheel in shield.

Coat of arms

Shield Azure with base wavy of Argent and Azure, issuant from base a mountain Argent charged with a cogwheel Gules, in chief a 5-point star Or flanked by two fountains Argent pouring water of the same. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "UNHAIS DA SERRA".
