Shield Argent, a bunch of bullrushes (Port: atabua) Vert seeded Gules and Or tied Azure, the whole superimposed by a duck passant Proper. Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "S. MARCOS DA ATABOEIRA".
Meaning:
The bulrushes probably refer to the commune's name and maybe thus canting.

São Marcos da Ataboeira Commune is one of the four communes of the Castro Verde municipality (q.v.); it had 649 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 76.23 km².
