It is a slighly untypical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a quartered background (town rank) of green and yellow.

The arms are Vert a castle Argent masoned Sable and with port and windows Gules flanked by two olive branches Or fruited Sable and in chief Maltese cross Argent and base wavy of four barrulets wavy of Argent and Azure. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "BELVER - GAVIÃO".

Belver Commune is one of the four communes of Gavião Municipality (q.v.); it had 900 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 69,71 km².
