Meaning:
The background, we could also say it is barry of 7 of Azure and Or, is representing the seven medieval farms, mentioned in a document of King Dom Manuel. The fleur-de-lis is an attribute of St. Mary, the local patron saint. The cereals are representing agriculture as main business line. They are also alluding to the tributes of Eiradega. The local council in the past was obliged to deliver grain to the majordomo, the local representative of the King.
