Presentation of Angústias

Angústias Commune (or Horta (Angústias) Commune) is one of the 13 communes of Horta Municipality (q.v.), and one of the urban communes (boroughs) of Horta city; it had 2784 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 4,12 km². The name of the Commune comes from the Catholic parish it is derived from and is conterminous to and synonym of, and the arms show the tokens of its patron, the Marian invocation Our Lady of Sorrows (usual Portuguese name is "dores", not "angústias", though).
