It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of white and red.

Shield Azure with base wavy of Argent and Vert, charged with a fish Gules, issuant from chief a demi-sun radiant Or, beneath two figs Or torn Gules and ordered per fess. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "LUZ - LAGOS".
Meaning:
The sun is referring to the many sunshiny days in the commune and its warm temperatures. The figs are symbolizing the cultivation of fig trees since the Middle Ages. The fish is symbolizing fishery as one of the main business lines. The base wavy (with green colour) is representing the Atlantic.

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field. The coat of arms was the same but with mural crown having just three visible towers (village rank) .

Luz Commune is one of the four communes of the Lagos municipality (q.v.); it had 3545 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 21.8 km². Luz gained the title of a town on 12 July 2001.
