About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.

Shield Purpure, a church Argent masoned Sable with port and windows Purpure and two bells Argent, flanked by two bezants (here golden coins, no mere discs), in base an eradicated pine tree Argent fruited Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "CASTELO BRANCO - MOGADOURO".
Meaning:
The phrase "castelo branco" means "white castle" and one such item is depicted in the arms (canting); the white colour of the flag might have been chosen to stress this meaning, too.
