It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a quartered field of white and green (town rank).

The arms are Argent two oars crossed per saltire flanked by two fleurs de lis Gules and in chief a St. James Order cross and in base a calabash Vert. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "ALHOS VEDROS".

Alhos Vedros Commune is one of the four communes of Moita Municipality (q.v.); it had 12 614 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 16,56 km².
