About the Flag

It is a fairly untypical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.

Coat of arms

Shield Or, a railway treck proper surrounding a pine tree proper by a sharp bend. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials:"VILA DE PINHAL NOVO".
Meaning:
The pine is a canting element. The treck is symbolizing an important railway junction in the commune.

Meaning:
The pines are canting again, and the pall probably is symbolizing an important railway junction in the commune.
