It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain blue field.

The arms are Argent a fess potenty along the upper edge Azure, in chief a bee Gules flanked by two corn cobs Vert, in base four barrulets wavy Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading "UNHAIS-O-VELHO" in black upper case letters.

Unhais-o-Velho Commune is one of the eight communes of Pampilhosa da Serra Municipality (q.v.); it had 632 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 40,06 km².
