It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quatered of yellow and blue.

The arms are Azure seven castles Argent set four and two and one masoned Sable with port and windows Gules,in chief a sun Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading "PAREDES DA BEIRA" in black upper case letters.
Meaning:
Paredes means (house) walls so the arms might be partly canting.
