The arms are Or a bundle of eight wheat ears Vert tied Azure and above an
island Sable emphasized Argent issuant from a campaign Vert wavy charged with a
fess Argent wavy itself charged with a fish Gules endowed. Mural crown argent
with three visible towers (commune rank) and white scroll reading in black
upper case letters "Porto Covo". Flag and arms adopted and published in the
official journal Diário da República : III Série in 1997.05.23:
«Armas - Escudo de ouro, molho de oito espigas de trigo verde, atadas
de azul; contra-chefe ondeado de verde e prata, de três tiras, sendo a de
prata carregada com um peixe de vermelho, nascente do ondeado, ilha de negro
realçada de prata. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco com a
legenda a negro: “PORTO COVO”.» The arms shows a local rocky

Porto Covo Commune is one of the two communes of the
Sines municipality. It had 1116 inhabitants in 2001
and covers 48,73 km².
