The arms are Azure, three pineapples Gules leaved Or ordered per fess, in central chief a flaming sword Or pointing upwards holding a beam balance Argent, in base a rowing boat Argent with oars. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA FRANCA DO CAMPO - S. MIGUEL".
Meaning:
Sword and scales are attributes of patron saint St. Michael.

São Miguel Commune is one of the six communes of Vila Franca do Campo Municipality (q.v.), one of the two urban communes that make up the seat; it had 4047 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 19,47 km².
