It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field (village rank).

The arms are Argent a three-branched ivy Vert and in dexter chief three arrows Azure set in pale and saltire tied Gules and in sinister chief a scallop Gules garnished Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "EDRAL - VINHAIS".

Edral Commune is one of the 26 communes of Vinhais Municipality (q.v.); it had 265 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 26,47 km².
