Flag of the town of Nizhnevartovsk is adopted by Decree of the Duma #293 dated September 25, 2003. Regarding the content the flag is single and harmonic. Symbology of the flag renders the emblem symbol of the town. The color of the flag is conditioned by the local national and religious traditions. The color of blue stripe is a symbol of beauty, greatness. It is bright blue sky and rich water resources. White stripe is a symbol of snow space, innocence and peace. Golden stripe between them symbolizes the riches of Samotlor, including oil deposits, and generous citizens of Nizhnevartovsk who are opened for all beautiful.
Flag of the town of Nizhnevartovsk represents a rectangular cloth of 3 color with ratio 2:3 - width to length , divided across into 3 parts horizontally. Stripes width ratio to the total cloth width is as follows: top (blue) - 4:9; middle (golden) - 19:9, lower (white) - 4:9. On the left the clot is represented a isosceles triangle of the golden color, the bottom of which is a left edge of the cloth, the angle of slope is 45°. The top of the triangle passes to the middle golden stripe, the distance from the left edge to the beginning of the stripe is in the ratio to the width of the cloth - 4:9."

Nizhnevartovsk (Russian: Нижнева́ртовск) is the second largest city in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — Yugra, Russia. It is located along the right bank of the Ob River. Population: 251,900 (2010 Census preliminary results); 239,044 (2002 Census); 241,457 (1989 Census).
