About the flag

Swedish municipalities which have heraldic arms (which almost all of them have) also by default have a flag which is a square banner of those arms.

The arms of Nykvarn weres adopted when the municipality was founded in 1999 (previously it was part of Södertälje). Nykvarn means ‘Newmill’. The charges are an insect which in Swedish is called ‘gul forsslända’ and a mill wheel. This insect lives in the lake Yngern in the municipality and only survives when the water is clean.
