has this much more like a yellow cross on blue - Stewart's image looks more
like a blue saltire on yellow.

The flag should have the yellow "cross" more off centre, a bit
like the Swedish national flag. I have seen this flag up
close at the Museum of Sea History in Stockholm.

Just sending ahead the house flag due to lack of time - TSA Tanker Shipping
AB of Göteborg (Gothenburg), Sweden:
http://www.tsatanker.se/
See last page of this pdf document, already known through Chemveg (19 Jun 2011
message):
http://www.tsatanker.se/images/stories/pdf/tsa_tbs.pdf
This image shows a white flag bearing black serifed initials "TSA";
the flag’s horizontal edges are lined by a red stripe above a much smaller black
one (mirrored on lower edge).

Some essential information on this shipping company taken from:
http://www.tsatanker.se/,
where we learn that TSA "was established by a group of experienced brokers in
1992 to operate as a professional shipbroking company in the international
tanker market. (...) We serve major oil companies, traders, industrialists and
the shipping industry with competitive tanker brokerage services."
Services offered also include agency (mainly Göteborg area), chartering
("bitumen, pitch, coal-tar product, vegetable oil, chemical and petroleum
products" are mentioned), reloading bunker vessels, etc.
The pdf file linked to earlier provides ships’ details where the cooperation
with TBS (Tarbit Shipping), Theodora Tankers, and Chemveg is given due attention.

A ferry service between Trelleborg and Sassnitz operated by
the Swedish and German railways. From the
Josef Nüsse site [5] is a white
table flag of 3x5 proportions bearing the legend "TS-LINE" with the
letters angled slightly to upper fly. The letters are mainly blue but
the "TS" have yellow cores with the outer blue not covering the ends.
The table flag is double sided in effect
with the reverse side legend visible. The legend itself appeared on
the hull of the ships involved in the service. Whilst the service
originated in 1897 and the Swedish and German Railways took over in
1909, it was not until the mid 1980s that the name of TS-Line was
officially adopted but this only lasted until 1994 when it became HansaFerry operating Trelleborg-Rostock, itself being short lived as
in 1997 it came under the Scandlines banner which incorporated the old
railway ferry companies of Sweden, Germany and Denmark.

Based in Uddevalla, they appear to have been
involved principally in iron and steel, chemicals and forestry
becoming a limited company in 1970 and operating until 1985. At one
stage they had their own ships up until the end of the 1950s which
were operated by Sune Tamm of Göteborg. The flag of a blue swallowtail
with a narrow white border except at the hoist bore a crown over the
yellow letters "UB" which are joined by a dash which is based on the
US Navy 1961 [8] portrayal, which could be
taken as the conjoined letters "UHB" whereas Brown 1951 [12] and
1958 [13] show a
longer and more definitive "dash" I assume that the letters "UB"
equate to Uddeholms Bolag" with the latter translating as
"Corporation".

A small ferry company based Üto which began in 1994
with the purchase of the last vessel of A/B Kostertrafik. Uses a
yellow swallowtail with a broad white horizontal band bearing a blue
"U" for which the logo can be seen at www.utorederi.se
with the flag being confirmed as flown on a photo of their vessel "Mysing".
