Description of flag

The personal arms of Grand Master Antoine de Paule, from the langue of Provence: Argent a peacock displayed proper and on a chief Azure three mullets Or (as seen, quartered with the SMOM, as  http://www.geocities.com/sf_depaule/gm_depaule.htm (no longer available)). I should add that the said peacock is standing upon a garb Or. Antoine de Paule was the 56th Grand Master of SMOM.

According to the website http://www.smom-za.org/smom/grandmasters/56.htm:
"Grand Master Antoine de Paule (1623-36) was a bon vivant and, in spite of his age, he lived like a prince and built a palace for himself about four miles out of the city. He called it after his patron saint and planted beautiful gardens and orange groves round it. This is San Anton Palace at Attard which is today the official residence of the President of the Republic."
