The flag of İzmir is white with the municipality's emblem in blue (photo), blue with the municipality's emblem in white (photo; as seen on 26 April 2014 in front of the Town Hall and on various buildings around the central square).
The emblem features the clock tower, located in the middle of the Town Hall square, offerred in 1900 by the German Emperor Wilhelm II. "Büyükşehir Belediyesi" means "Metropolitan Municipality".

Altinordu İzmir, established in 1923, ranks 5th among İzmir's football clubs, and plays currently in the Second League. Altinordu was also Turkish basketball champion in 1967.
The flag of Altinordu is vertically divided blue-red-blue-red-blue, with the club's emblem shifted to the top. The emblem displays on a white shield outlined blue and red the blue letter "A" connected with a red letter "O". Inside the "O" appears "1923" in red and, beneath, the blue writing "İzmir". "ALTINORDU" is written in red letters in chief.

The Ege University (Ege Üniversitesi), established in 1955, is located in İzmir with several branches. It is one of the most important public universities in Turkey, with more than 50,000 students (2011).
The flag of the Ege University is white with the university's emblem in its centre. The emblem displays light blue waves superimposed by a dark blue letter "e". The university's name and foundation year are written in white on the emblem's border.
